Lung cancer detected by New Robotic Technology | 2019

Lung Cancer, 2019:

The new technology helping to find out lung cancer. New robotic technology that operates like a video game is helping patients in Tulsa find out if they have lung cancer more quickly, faster, safer, and with fewer complications.

It is true that lung cancer is one of the biggest cause of cancer-related deaths in the world. In fact, in 2015, 1.38 million deaths across the world were attributable to lung cancer alone.

Lung cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed across the world(worldwide) and accounts for 6.9% of all new cancer cases in India(Asia). If we talk According to Globocan 2018 data which includes estimates of incidence, mortality rate and prevalence of 36 sorts of cancers in 185 countries of the world, if we talk about Indians then lung cancer is the second most common cancer in Indian men with 48,698 new cases in the year 2018, and 19,097 cases among females.
In addition, Lung cancer is usually a neglected entity in the universe of cancer management in India. It is not one of the first diagnosis in the mind of the primary doctors, neither is it one of the top priorities in the cancer treatment centers. Even when we talk about awareness generally we restrict ourselves to Breast and Gynecological cancers and sometimes to head and neck cancers for males but conveniently forget about lung cancers.
Here one of the main reasons for this step-motherly treatment of lung cancer is usually the dismal prognosis associated with it. Once the diagnosis of lung cancer is confirmed, everybody, including the treating doctors, condemns the patient to a life span of under a year and feels that there is not much point treating such patients.
But they are not wrong.
It is true that lung cancer is one of the biggest cause of cancer-related deaths in the world. In fact, in 2015, 1.38 million deaths across the world were attributable to lung cancer alone. Only in India, Indians alone 48,000 patients died due to lung cancer in 2012.

There are limited centers available for cancer treatment. Cancer Treatment Centers of America is one of just six locations within the country using Auris Health’s Monarch Platform, a newly FDA approved innovation(search) that allows doctors to look at inside the lungs and get tissue for a biopsy. In mere one month, 16 patients have been diagnosed using the new technology or using the new robotic technology.
Lung cancer is more deadly than breast, colon, prostate and pancreatic cancer combined, but symptoms don't show until late stages. This allows us to find and biopsy nodules at a much earlier stage, instead of allowing them to grow.
Not only is it more accurate, but it also causes less complication. In other technologies, the complication rate can be as high as 30%. With this technology we really expect the complication rate to be less than 0.1%.
Doctors using the technology at Centennial use an X-box-type controller to navigate a scope into the patient’s lungs.
This helps the doctors extract hard to reach nodules that could be cancerous.
“When we can find lung cancer smaller than a centimeter like we can with this technology, the cure rate is 91 percent,” said pulmonologist Susan Garwood. “Think about what that will do when you think about currently, the landscape is that 80 percent of people don’t make it to five years.”
Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States due to it not being detectable in the earlier stages.

What is Mesothelioma lung cancer?

There are many types of cancers, but here we will discuss Mesothelioma Lung cancer. Mesothelioma is a very rare type of cancer that develops in the pleura, a thin membrane that separates the lung from the chest wall. As it progresses (grow) along the membrane, it results in breathing difficulties, or you have to fight with any pain, and it is very painful.  You can feel the chest pain and fever also. It usually occurs from prior exposure to asbestos, a type of mineral fiber(one type of material) used in the insulation industry. Very less commonly, mesothelioma can also arise, less commonly, along with the lining of the abdomen.
